Lower Body Lift

Weight loss, pregnancy, and genetics can all contribute to loose, sagging skin and a bulging appearance in the abdominal area. While exercise can offer some toning benefits, it cannot fully restore firmness to loose skin or repair muscles that have been stretched and separated due to pregnancy.
In certain instances, a panniculectomy is included to eliminate excess skin that hangs over the genitals and thighs like an apron. Dr. Ali, a triple board-certified plastic surgeon in Montreal, performs lower body lift surgery at his practice to assist patients in rejuvenating their appearance following significant skin laxity resulting from substantial weight loss, weight fluctuations, natural aging, or other factors.

Surgical Technique

A medial thigh lift enhances the appearance of sagging inner thighs, restoring a firmer and more proportionate look. The placement of the incision in this procedure varies based on the amount of excess skin and fat to be addressed. For patients with moderate excess skin, the incision is typically placed in the groin fold. In cases where there is more significant excess tissue, an incision along the length of the inner thigh may be necessary.
" Dr. Ali is truly exceptional. I underwent abdominoplasty with him in November of 2015, and his expertise has been truly transformative. His bedside manner matches his skill "

Following your surgery, Dr. Ali may suggest an overnight stay in one of our recovery suites, where our registered nursing staff will provide attentive care. Alternatively, for patients residing within 20 miles of our office, a lower body lift can be performed as an outpatient procedure.
For outpatient procedures, Dr. Ali can arrange for a plastic surgery nurse to visit your home. The nurse is trained to assist with your recovery, including monitoring, changing dressings, helping with medications, and providing Dr. Ali with updates on your progress.
Recovery time after liposuction typically ranges from 5-7 days, while more extensive body lifting procedures may require up to 2 weeks for recovery. The results of body contouring procedures are generally long-lasting as long as a stable weight is maintained.

Better Recovery?

To minimize swelling and aid in achieving your new body contours, you may wear a compression garment for about 4 weeks post-surgery. Dr. Ali may also insert small drain tubes under your skin to manage excess fluid, which are typically removed within 1-2 weeks along with stitches. During your recovery period, it's important to avoid strenuous activities, including lifting, for several weeks.

Post-Bariatric Surgery?

A lower body lift is frequently viewed as the concluding phase of a bariatric weight loss journey. After experiencing rapid and substantial weight loss from bariatric surgery, many patients discover that their skin has not properly conformed to their new body shape, resulting in loose, hanging skin. A lower body lift targets the typical areas of excess skin following bariatric surgery, with Dr. Ali tailoring each procedure to meet the specific needs of the patient.

Lift and Lipo?

Dr. Ali strives to place all surgical incisions in less conspicuous areas—those that are easily concealed or within natural body folds. This approach aims to minimize visible scarring once healing is complete. Dr. Ali and his team also provide guidance on scar care and recovery options to enhance healing speed and achieve optimal final results.
