PRP therapy

Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) therapy involves injection of the patient’s own platelets and fibrin for the cosmetic treatment of wrinkles or scars in the face, hands, and neck. It uses of one’s own blood to rejuvenate skin, grow back hair and improve the healing of skin, muscle and bone.

By spinning blood at high speeds (centrifugation) we separate the blood into red blood cells and plasma. Plasma contains white blood cells, platelets and proteins. Platelets contain growth factors that stimulate tissue cells to regenerate and repair themselves. The effect of injecting platelet rich plasma into the skin or the scalp is to stimulate collagen formation and hair growth. This allows a progressive improvement in the quality and texture of the skin, restoring vitality to (sun) damaged areas of the face, neck, hands and scalp.

Known to some as the “vampire facelift”, PRP in aesthetic medicine is an exciting avenue that has produced tremendous results for clients looking to achieve a more youthful appearance.

The idea is that injecting PRP into damaged tissues will stimulate your body to grow new, healthy cells and promote healing.

It is less invasive than plastic surgery, takes about 20 minutes for each treatment, and offers improvements for up to 18 months.

The “Vampire Lift” treatment can be paired with hyaluronic acid filler and combined with laser resurfacing or skin tightening procedures for a complete yet natural makeover.

Treated areas

The platelets induce massive fibroblasts which are cells found in skin that act as soldiers in the battle against aging. Platelets release growth factors that work to eliminate necrotic tissue and boost cell regeneration. Growth factors (bioactive proteins) attract macrophages which are large white blood cells that eat up cellular debris and produce stem cells for tissue repair. Clients looking to reverse photodamage and accelerated aging benefit from the tissue regeneration that PRP offers.

For those looking to volumize areas where descent and deflation has taken place PRP is a formidable alternative to dermal fillers. The gel serum that is created when the blood is centrifuged and the platelet rich plasma is separated and injected to areas on the face and body where sagging has occurred. Because PRP stimulates 3-5 times as many stem cells found in normal blood it helps to boost collagen. PRP can plump cheeks fill in the nasal labial folds and soften the hollows under the eyes.
